Hodgson House, Echuca's B&B on the Murray River has just been sold and has ceased operation. Anne, Allen & the team will be announcing our next venture in tourism shortly. Thanks for your support over the last 9 years.

Zac of Hodgson House

My name is Zac, I am the special pet terrier of Anne & Allen from Hodgson House, Echuca's B&B on the Murray River. I adopted them when I was at the RSPCA in Echuca and my job is take the guests for walks and bring them a lot of joy.

Living by the River and next to the Wharparilla Flora Reserve is really a great dog's life, I never have to wear a lead, have a huge back garden and can watch the birds from the terrace. Yes, that's me enjoying my back yard! Photo by Vanessa & Ross of Duet Images.

I will wait for the doorbell, meet our new guests  on their arrival (who quickly become my new friends - I'm very friendly) and accompany them on the walk down to the river and beyond - I just love company!

Some time ago, I got this email from Anne & Glenn:

"Hi Anne , Allen and Zac
Well we arrived home safe but damn half way home we realised we did not get that picture of Zac we so wanted to take. Please tell him we are sorry but we will be back and will be sure to get a few then"

As you can imagine, I thought "Oh no! Will anyone photograph me?"

So I asked all my friends who've visited me at Hodgson House and have a photo of me you'd like to share, please send it to Anne & Allen, they'll put it on this page for everyone to see.

I still don't understand why Paul & Diane Field from Malua Bay in NSW who visited us recently took this photo of my feline brother, Sonny. Am I right in saying, "I'm the one who walked down the River with them!"

Surely I thought, "Someone wants to photograph me?"

At last! My friends, Ian & Carol Robertson from Tasmania  sent a photo of me - quite distinguished if I do say so myself  - but I'd love to see more of me!

So please keep sending those photos to Anne & Allen.

Thank you again Ian & Carol - you're wonderful and when you come back to Hodgson House, I promise I will take you for a walk!

Then I got this wonderful email  from Marie and Fred

"OK  Zac ,I had tears in my eyes reading about  you being ignored  by your friends !!!I felt guilty too because I knew I had a photo of you some where in the dark bowls of my computer .I have found it now , but you have to share the photo with Sonny  .OK??? "

Marie and Fred will be visiting us again soon and if Fred is really good, I'll go with him down to the river - Fred's a fisherman and he needs company while he sits by the river!

Thank you Fred, it's a lovely photo of me and yes, Sonny and Marie but all my friends will recognise my tail and that special way I have.

I had another visit from Fred & Marie and of course, we went down to the river (as I do with all my guests!) and Fred took this photo of me.

If I look a little sensitive its because Anne will see that I've been on the picnic table and I'll be in trouble. (You know what Mum's are like!)

Still it's a nice photo of me and it does show the forest, so I have decided to include it in my snapshots - even better, it doesn't have Sonny trying to put his face in my gallery! Thanks again Fred.

Well, there's more to my story, Old Fred has had such a good time visiting me he had his family stay in Echuca while Marie & Fred stayed with us at Hodgson House.

Of course, Anne invited the family over to visit us and have a swim and I met Fred's grandson, Dillon.  Dillon and I really clicked, I kissed him on the lips and he kissed me. He was just the right height and we were both sad when he went back home.

But he did promise me that he will be back and I'm looking forward to it. Gosh, I do take a take a good photo, I should have been a model!

I've been telling the Boss (that's Allen) that Sonny is naughty and joins guests on the Terrace when they have breakfast outside by the pool.  Lorel & Laurie visited us recently and took this picture of Sonny sitting with them at the breakfast table.

Do you believe me now?

They say a picture tells a thousand words!

I've got to ask Loz, what she was thinking? She dobbed me in too - sitting in the lounge with them while Anne & Allen were out.

It's OK to dob Sonny - he's a cat and should be kept in his place.

But me, I'm the senior entertainment officer!  I don't think I'll mention this photo to the boss.

Loz when you come again leave the camera at home or just take photos of the paddlesteamers,  Kookaburras, Rosellas and trees.  Good idea really!

It's a conspiracy!  Here I am on the Murray River track on the way into town  with Bart, who was visiting from the big smoke, and we find a puddle.  So what do boys do - they play in the mud!

How was I to know Stephen would take our photo and even worse, when I got home Mum made me have a bath.

Thanks for the photo Stephen, the walk is a great memory but not the bath and I simply ask why didn't Bart have a bath too?

Wow! what a weekend I just had.  I took Adam & Jane for a walk to the River and Adam proposes - just the 3 of us there, as it should be on these romantic occasions.  Adam, I was proud you let me in on the secret - Love to you both, Zac!

Anne & Allen appreciate all your comments about me and how I entertained you during your stay -  so please send in some more photos and stories - I want Anne & Allen to appreciate what a big part I play in making Hodgson House such a lovely place to visit!

Remember, the email address is info@hodgsonhouse.com.au

Look forward to seeing you soon

Love, Zac
